This summer has been unbearably hot without even much rain to cool off those sticky, summer days. However, it is summer, so it is impossible to sit inside all day, but then, it is just as impossible to figure out what to comfortably wear in this heat. It would be fabulous if wearing a swimsuit to the store was socially acceptable….but its not, so in that case, we need to discuss what IS acceptable and perfect to wear for the hottest of summer days.
The first article of clothing you need to add to your wardrobe is a bandeau. Some would call this a type of bra, but this summer, many are showing off their bandeaus as more of an outfit piece. If it is longer and falls right above the belly, you can wear this bandeau with a simple pair of denim shorts. If your bandeau is on the shorter side, wear it under a long over-sized tank top. Because bandeaus are part of the trend this summer, you can find them anywhere and in a bunch of exciting colors.
The next thing to add to your wardrobe is shorts, shorts, and more shorts. In the past few years, shorts have seemed more of a casual piece of clothing and wearing shorts out on the town just wasn’t the style. I am not sure what came first, the hot weather, or this new trend, but to our luck, this summer we have seen dressy shorts back out! There is nothing worse than a tight dress or a pair of jeans in 100 degree weather. Make sure your shorts are a good length for YOU and what YOU are comfortable in. Try a pair of short, distressed jean shorts with a a black tank and black wedges. Or, try a pair of faux leather, black shorts with a loose fitting lacy top. Remember, a nice pair of short shorts matched with a higher heel will make your legs seem twice as long!
And lastly, keep it loose. This isn’t the summer to bring out the tight fitting anything. You will spend the entire day prying your wet, tight clothes off your sticky body….not fun at all! There are so many loose fitting pieces of clothing, especially shirts, that are trendy this summer. You can also find some hot dresses that have a loose fit to add to your wardrobe.
I know sometimes it is simply easier to stay inside than to fight with the heat and with your sweaty clothes at the end of the day. So many people are miserable in the summer heat and many times its because they are dressed uncomfortably. It is so easy to keep your summer outfits simple, trendy, yet cool on your skin. Hopefully these few suggestions will help!
